About the Author -- Plants, Genes, and Crop Biotechnology
Maarten J. Chrispeels is a professor in the Department of Biology at the University of California, San Diego. He received a Ph.D. in agronomy from the University of Illinois. His fields of interest are plant physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and biotechnology. Professor Chrispeels is the former editor-in-chief of the journal Plant Physiology and consults for several biotechnology companies.

David E. Sadava is a professor in the Joint Science Center, The Claremont Colleges. He is an honors graduate of Carleton University in Canada, and he received a Ph.D. in biology from the University of California, San Diego. He teaches and does research in cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. Professor Sadava is the author of Cell Biology: Organelle Structure and Function.
